A selection of films to give you a good overview of the main issues relating to health, environment and animal welfare.
Great film for all the basics on nutrition and transitioning towards a healthy lifestyle. I think it’s only available with a subscription to Food Matters, but I really highly recommend getting one – you get access to so many other great documentaries as well as online yoga classes, recipes and other super useful resources.
Hungry for Change
The sequel to Food Matters (see above!).
The Ghosts in our Machine is a moving and poignant documentary, following the mission of animal rights photojournalist Jo-Anne McArthur, as she captures the images of individual animals trapped in various exploitative industries. Not for the faint of heart, but everyone needs to see this film.
This is a strange youtube documentary that I came across one day… While the narration is really dry, and the tone can be a little condescending at times, it makes many good points – in fact, it provides a counter-argument to almost every single reason why most people think humans are more important than (other) animals.
I haven’t actually seen this one yet, but I’ve heard that it covers all the main reasons why a plant-based diet is better for the environment.
A light hearted – but still informative – documentary about 3 people who agree to go vegan for 6 weeks.
Gives an overview of the main problems associated with the current food model in the US (in terms of environment, health, and animal welfare).
Really great introduction to the health side of the debate, and the health benefits of eating plant-based.
